T\u00e4n\u00e4 aikana sellutehdas tuotti maailmalle prosessistaan kaikkiaan noin 1.735.000 tonnia sulfiittisellua. Tuotetusta m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4st\u00e4 kuusisellua oli yli 900.000 tonnia ja koivusellua yli 800.000 tonnia. Tehtaan viimeisin\u00e4 vuosina valmistettiin viel\u00e4 Fluff-sellua l\u00e4hes 50.000 tonnia. Puuta t\u00e4m\u00e4n sellum\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4n tuottamiseen kului hieman vajaat 10 miljoonaa kiintokuutiometri\u00e4. T\u00e4m\u00e4 m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4 vastaa yhden metrin levyist\u00e4 ja yhden metrin korkuista pinoa, joka yltt\u00e4\u00e4 Suomen p\u00e4\u00e4st\u00e4 p\u00e4\u00e4h\u00e4n 8,6 kertaa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Sulfiittisellun tuotantom\u00e4\u00e4ri\u00e4 1937-1983<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tehtaan nimellistuotanto sen valmistuessa vuoden 1938 alussa oli 40.000 tn valkaisematonta kuusisulfiittisellua vuodessa. Ensimm\u00e4isen kerran tuotannossa p\u00e4\u00e4stiin l\u00e4helle nimellistuotantom\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4\u00e4 vasta vuonna 1951, jolloin vuosituotannoksi saatiin noin 38.000 tn. Tehtaan keskim\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4inen tuotanto kaksikattilaisena vuosina 1938-1959 oli noin 25.700 tn, joka oli vain 64% nimellistuotannosta. M\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4llisesti parhaaseen vuosituotantoon yllettiin vuonna 1970, jolloin tuotannoksi saatiin yhteens\u00e4 56.300 tn. T\u00e4st\u00e4 m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4st\u00e4 oli koivusellua 49.000 tn ja kuusisellua 7300 tn. Tehtaan toiminnan heikoimmat vuosituotannot olivat sotavuosina 1940 ja 1944, joina molempina yllettiin ainoastaan noin 8500 tn vuosituotantoon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Sulfiitin 1930- ja 1940-luku<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sulfiitti k\u00e4ynnistyi alkuvuodesta 1938. Ep\u00e4varmasta maailmantilanteesta johtuen sellun kysynt\u00e4 alkoi kuitenkin pian heiket\u00e4 ja hinta laskea. Vuonna 1938 uudella tehtaalla jouduttiinkin toteuttamaan l\u00e4hes kahden kuukauden mittainen tuotantoseisokki. Syyskuun alussa 1939 alkanut toinen maailmansota ja marraskuun lopussa alkanut talvisota lopettivat sulfiitin toiminnan kokonaan. Vuonna 1940 tuotteiden vientimarkkinat h\u00e4visiv\u00e4t miltei t\u00e4ysin. Sulfiittitehdas olikin t\u00e4st\u00e4 syyst\u00e4 pantava seisomaan toukokuussa 1940. Se saatiin k\u00e4yntiin uudelleen lokakuussa, mutta vain kolmeksi viikoksi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Vuonna 1941 sellun vienti Saksaan oli saatu heiver\u00f6iselle alulle, mutta liikekannallepano ja jatkosodan syttyminen kes\u00e4ll\u00e4 1941 pys\u00e4yttiv\u00e4t sulfiittitehtaan. Syksyll\u00e4 1941 tehdas saatiin osittain k\u00e4yntiin naisty\u00f6voimalla, mutta vuoden tuotanto oli vain 12.500 tonnia. Sotavuosista viimeinen eli vuosi 1944 oli vaikea sulfiitille ja tuotantoa saatiin silloin syntym\u00e4\u00e4n vain noin 8500 tonnia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sodan j\u00e4lkeen Suomen selluloosan tuotanto alkoi kasvaa ja vientitoiminta k\u00e4ynnistyi. Vuonna 1945 sulfiitin tuotantom\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4ksi tuli melkein 17.500 tonnia. Seuraavinakin vuosina tuotanto nousi edelleen ja vuonna 1948 p\u00e4\u00e4stiin tehtaan vuosituotannossa ensi kertaa uudelle kymmenluvulle ja tuotannoksi saatiin noin 31.000 tonnia. Vuosi 1949 oli sellumarkkinoilla vaikea ja vienti tyrehtyi. Valtiovalta teki tilannetta helpottaakseen kaksi devalvaatiota.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Sulfiitin 1950- ja 1960 luku<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tehtyjen devalvaatioiden j\u00e4lkeen tilanne alkoi parantui v\u00e4hitellen. Vuonna 1950 syttyi Korean sota ja se aiheutti suuren myyntibuumin markkinoilla. Sellun hinta kohosi nopeasti 3-4 kertaiseksi ja tuotannot vuosina 1950 ja 1951 olivat 32.500 tn ja 38.400 tonnia. Sellu k\u00e4vi kaupaksi hyv\u00e4ll\u00e4 hinnalla ja tehdasta ajettiin t\u00e4ysill\u00e4. Selluloosan myyntihintojen nousu jatkui vuoteen 1952 saakka. N\u00e4in\u00e4 Korean sodan myynti\u00e4 vauhdittamina vuosina tehtiin sulfiitin historian parasta taloudellista tulosta. Sellun hinta kohosi silloin enn\u00e4tyksellisen korkeaksi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Noususuhdanne k\u00e4\u00e4ntyi kuitenkin sen j\u00e4lkeen laskuun ja selluloosateollisuuden tuotteet asetettiin Euroopan maissa tuontis\u00e4\u00e4nn\u00f6stelyn alaisiksi. Kysynt\u00e4 v\u00e4heni my\u00f6s Yhdysvalloissa ja Etel\u00e4-Amerikassa. Vuoden 1956 yleislakko lamautti koko Suomen teollisuustuotannon sek\u00e4 lis\u00e4ksi eritt\u00e4in huono j\u00e4\u00e4tilanne vaikeutti selluloosan vientitoimituksia ja tuotantoja jouduttiin osin supistamaan monessa tehtaassa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">1960-luvun alussa markkinatilanne vaikeutui edelleen ja johti lopulta tulokseen, jossa selluntuottajien kesken yhteisesti p\u00e4\u00e4tettiin tuotannon supistuksista l\u00e4hes viidenneksell\u00e4 vuoden 1961 lopusta l\u00e4htien. T\u00e4m\u00e4 ei kuitenkaan auttanut, vaan selluloosan hinnat romahtivat. Suomen selluloosateollisuuden kannalta tilanteen korjasi kuitenkin myynti Neuvostoliiton ja Kiinan markkinoille. Pohjoismaiset selluntuottajat p\u00e4\u00e4ttiv\u00e4t kuitenkin 26.9.1965 alentaa sellun hintoja laadusta riippuen 5-9 %. Hintojen pudotus oli eritt\u00e4in tuntuva ja kyseist\u00e4 p\u00e4iv\u00e4\u00e4 nimitet\u00e4\u00e4n selluloosateollisuuden historiassa termill\u00e4 Black Monday eli Musta maanantai. Devalvointi vuonna 1967 paransi hieman vientiteollisuuden asemaa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Sulfiitin 1970- ja 1980 luku<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Maailmantalouden suhdanteet heikkeniv\u00e4t 1970-luvun alussa voimakkaasti. Vuotta 1971 pidettiin Suomessa yleisesti teollisuuden kannalta yhten\u00e4 vaikeimmista sotien j\u00e4lkeen. T\u00e4m\u00e4n j\u00e4lkeen vuoden 1973 \u00f6ljykriisist\u00e4 alkanut taantuma murensi edelleen sellumarkkinoita. T\u00e4m\u00e4n vaikutus alkoi n\u00e4ky\u00e4 t\u00e4ysimittaisesti vuosituotantom\u00e4\u00e4riss\u00e4 \u00c4\u00e4nekoskellakin vuodesta 1975 alkaen, jolloin tehtaan huippuvuosista oli tultu alas tuotantom\u00e4\u00e4riss\u00e4 noin 29%. Pohjakosketus 1970-luvun tuotantom\u00e4\u00e4riss\u00e4 saavutettiin vuonna 1977, jolloin tuotanto oli noin 35.000 tn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">1970-luvun pitk\u00e4n taantuman p\u00e4\u00e4ttyess\u00e4 1977-1978 sulfiittisellun valmistus oli eritt\u00e4in tappiollista. Markkinoiden alkaessa vet\u00e4\u00e4 vuosikymmenen lopulla tuotantom\u00e4\u00e4riss\u00e4 p\u00e4\u00e4stiin nousemaan viel\u00e4 l\u00e4helle 50.000 tn tasoa. Tehtaan tuotantorakenteessa oli kuitenkin noihin aikoihin tapahtumassa suuri muutos. Vuonna 1979 alkanut fluffin tuotanto nosti yksik\u00f6n kannattavuuden viel\u00e4 hetkellisesti positiiviseksi ja antoi sille hieman lis\u00e4toiminta-aikaa. Pelk\u00e4n kuusisellun valmistus tapahtui vuosina 1937-1957. T\u00e4n\u00e4 aikana tehtiin yhteens\u00e4 noin 505.000 tn kuusisellua. Paras vuosituotanto kuusisellulla saavutettiin vuonna 1955, jolloin valmistettiin yhteens\u00e4 noin 38.500 tn. Pelk\u00e4ll\u00e4 kuusisellulla tehtaan keskim\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4inen vuosituotanto oli noin 25.000 tn. Keskituotantoa kuusella laski voimakkaasti markkinah\u00e4iri\u00f6ist\u00e4 johtuneet tehtaan alkuvuosien hyvin heikot tuotantom\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4t.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kuusisellun p\u00e4\u00e4asiallinen markkina-alue oli Englannissa. 1960-luvun alussa kuusisellun myynti alkoi hiipua. T\u00e4m\u00e4 johtui siit\u00e4, ett\u00e4 uudet k\u00e4ynnistyneet sulfaattitehtaat veiv\u00e4t markkinoita m\u00e4ntysulfaatilla, jossa oli parempi lujuus. Siit\u00e4 oli paljon hy\u00f6ty\u00e4 armeerausmassana k\u00e4ytett\u00e4ess\u00e4. Sa-massa tarvitsi kuitenkin enemm\u00e4n jauhatuskapasiteettia, jota sulfiitin vanhoilla asiakastehtailla Englannissa ei ollut riitt\u00e4v\u00e4sti. T\u00e4m\u00e4 piti kuusisellun toimitukset sulfiitista edelleen k\u00e4ynniss\u00e4.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kuusisellun tuotanto tehtaalla romahti kuitenkin vuonna 1967 koivusellun m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4n kasvaessa voimakkaasti. T\u00e4m\u00e4n j\u00e4lkeen kuusisellun tuotantom\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4t pysytteliv\u00e4t huippuvuosinaankin alle 10.000 tn vuosituotantom\u00e4\u00e4riss\u00e4. Tehtaan viimeisin\u00e4 toimintavuosina 1980-luvun alussa kuusisellun vuosituotantom\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4t olivat en\u00e4\u00e4 alle 10% kokonaism\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4st\u00e4.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Koivusellun tuotanto tehtaalla<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Koivusellun tuotanto tuli tehtaalla mahdolliseksi 1950-luvun puoliv\u00e4lin j\u00e4lkeen, kun valkaisulaitos saatiin tuotantok\u00e4ytt\u00f6\u00f6n. Koivun k\u00e4ytt\u00f6 prosessissa alkoi hiljalleen lis\u00e4\u00e4nty\u00e4 ja saavutti maksiminsa vuonna 1968, jolloin yli 93% tuotannosta oli koivusellua. Selluprosessin uutepitoisuudet lis\u00e4\u00e4ntyiv\u00e4t ja aiheuttivat ajo-ongelmia. T\u00e4st\u00e4 syyst\u00e4 prosessiin hankittiin nollakuidun poisto eli Attis-suotimet. T\u00e4m\u00e4 auttoi jonkin aikaa pit\u00e4m\u00e4\u00e4n sellun uutepitoisuuden kurissa. Vuonna 1967 tehtaalla luovuttiin valkaisussa kloorauksesta ja tilalle rakennettiin klooridioksidivaihe. Koivusellun valmistusm\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4t pieneniv\u00e4t tehtaalla 1970-luvun alkupuoliskolla.
