Tehtaiden tuoreen j\u00e4tevesiluvan k\u00e4sittelyn yhteydess\u00e4 oli jo ilmennyt, ett\u00e4 tekniikaltaan vanhan sulfiittiselluloosatehtaan j\u00e4tevesien puhdistuskapasiteetti ei v\u00e4ltt\u00e4m\u00e4tt\u00e4 riitt\u00e4isi uusien entist\u00e4 tiukempien lupaehtojen t\u00e4ytt\u00e4miseen. Koko si-sellutehtaan tuotannon jatkamisestakin oli julkisuudessa esitetty hyvin ep\u00e4ilevi\u00e4 k\u00e4sityksi\u00e4. Yhti\u00f6n puolelta n\u00e4ihin ajatuksiin ei oltu yhdytty, vaan selke\u00e4n\u00e4 tavoitteena oli kehitt\u00e4\u00e4 sulfiittiprosessista niin tuotannollisesti kuin ymp\u00e4rist\u00f6nsuojelullisestikin tulevaisuuden vaatimukset kest\u00e4v\u00e4. T\u00e4st\u00e4 syyst\u00e4 koivuj\u00e4teliemen hyv\u00e4ksik\u00e4ytt\u00f6\u00e4 oli yhti\u00f6n piiriss\u00e4 tutkittu jo 1960-luvulla ja nyt uudestaan muutaman vuoden ajan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yhti\u00f6n johtokunta teki 17.5.1973 tehtaan rakentamista koskevan p\u00e4\u00e4t\u00f6ksen ja laitteistojen tilaussopimus allekirjoitettiin p\u00e4\u00e4hankkijan Oy W. Rosenlew Ab:n kanssa 26.7.1973. Tehtaan yleissuunnittelu tehtiin yhdess\u00e4 sveitsil\u00e4isen Cellulose Attisholz AG:n kanssa ja my\u00f6s tuotetta koskeva valmistuslisenssi hankittiin samalta yhti\u00f6lt\u00e4.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Rehuhiivaprosessit<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rehuhiivan valmistusta varten oli maassamme k\u00e4yt\u00f6ss\u00e4 kaksi eri prosessia: Torula-prosessi ja Pekilo-prosessi. Rehuhiivan valmistusperiaate oli sama molemmissa prosesseissa. Seuraavassa on esitetty karkeasti prosessien toimintaperiaate. Se on tehty l\u00e4hinn\u00e4 Pekilo-prosessin mukaan, mutta sama periaate sopii siis my\u00f6skin Torula-prosessille.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rehuhiivaa valmistettiin sulfiittiselluloosatehtaan koivuj\u00e4telient\u00e4 k\u00e4ytt\u00e4m\u00e4ll\u00e4. Pesem\u00f6ss\u00e4 talteenotettu noin 12% j\u00e4teliemi johdettiin rikkidioksidierotuksen kautta fermenttoriin. SO<sub>2<\/sub>-erotus tapahtui h\u00f6yrystrippauksella. Erotettu SO<sub>2<\/sub>-kaasu palautettiin keittohapon valmistukseen. Strippauksesta tuleva liemi neutraloitiin pH-arvoon n. 5,5 ja siihen lis\u00e4ttiin tarvittavat ravinneaineet (NH<sub>2<\/sub>, P<sub>2<\/sub>O<sub>5<\/sub>\u00a0ja KCL). T\u00e4m\u00e4n j\u00e4lkeen liemi j\u00e4\u00e4hdytettiin k\u00e4ymisl\u00e4mp\u00f6tilaansa noin 30-33\u00b0C. J\u00e4\u00e4hdytys tapahtui ensimm\u00e4isess\u00e4 vaiheessa fermenttorista tulevalla liemell\u00e4 ja toisessa vaiheessa vedell\u00e4. Jatkuvatoimisessa fermenttorissa liemi viipyi n. 4-5 tuntia. Bakteerikannan avulla siell\u00e4 muodostui j\u00e4teliemen matalamolekyylisist\u00e4 yhdisteist\u00e4 (p\u00e4\u00e4asiassa monosakkariidit, tietyt aldonihapot, etikkahappo ja furfuraali) sienirihmastoa, jonka proteiinipitoisuus oli 50-60%. Muodostunut rihmasto erotettiin liemest\u00e4 ja pestiin tyhj\u00f6suodattimella, jonka j\u00e4lkeen se johdettiin puristimen kautta edelleen h\u00f6yrykuivatukseen, miss\u00e4 se kuivatettiin kuiva-ainepitoisuuteen noin 96%. Kuivatuksen j\u00e4lkeen suoritettiin viel\u00e4 mahdollinen granulointi. K\u00e4ymisprosessista tuleva prosessin j\u00e4teliemi johdettiin esil\u00e4mmityksen kautta loppuhaihdutukseen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Hiivatehdas k\u00e4ynnistyi joulukuussa 1974<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sulfiittij\u00e4telimen mikrobiologinen hyv\u00e4ksik\u00e4ytt\u00f6 perustui siihen, ett\u00e4 j\u00e4teliemi sis\u00e4lsi hiivan kasvulle v\u00e4ltt\u00e4m\u00e4tt\u00f6mi\u00e4 hivenaineita, kuten magnesiumia sek\u00e4 hiivan kasvun p\u00e4\u00e4asiallisimpia energial\u00e4hteit\u00e4 sokeria ja etikkahappoa. Varsinainen prosessi oli kehitetty jo 1930-luvulla ja nyt rakennettu tehdas oli tuon alkuper\u00e4isprosessin uusin sovellutus. Hiivatehdas k\u00e4ynnistettiin joulukuussa 1974 lentoteitse Sveitsist\u00e4 tuodulla 500 kg aktiivisella hiivaer\u00e4ll\u00e4. Valmista hiivaa saatiin varastosiiloihin ensimm\u00e4isen kerran 14. joulukuuta ja ensimm\u00e4inen l\u00e4hetys tilaajalle kuormattiin tehtaalla 17. joulukuuta. Tuote sai nimekseen Silva-proteiini ja se toimitettiin tilaajille k\u00e4ytett\u00e4v\u00e4ksi edelleen valkuaisainel\u00e4hteen\u00e4 kotiel\u00e4inten rehuseoksissa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">K\u00e4ynnistytty\u00e4\u00e4n rehuhiivatehdas t\u00e4ytti ne tuotannolliset ja ymp\u00e4rist\u00f6nsuojelulliset tavoitteet, jotka sille oli perustamisp\u00e4\u00e4t\u00f6st\u00e4 teht\u00e4ess\u00e4 asetettu. Tuotanto vakiintui vuositasolla vajaaseen 5000 tonniin. Markkinointisopimus Rehutehtaitten Yhdistyksen kanssa toimi, joten tuotanto vastasi kysynt\u00e4\u00e4 eik\u00e4 varastoja p\u00e4\u00e4ssyt syntym\u00e4\u00e4n. My\u00f6s ymp\u00e4rist\u00f6nsuojeluinvestointina hiivatehdas t\u00e4ytti kaikki alunperin siihen kohdistetut odotukset vesist\u00f6\u00f6n p\u00e4\u00e4sevien happea kuluttavien ainesosien eliminoijana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Allergiaep\u00e4ilyt her\u00e4\u00e4v\u00e4t<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yll\u00e4tt\u00e4v\u00e4\u00e4 tehtaan teknisen toiminnan kannalta olikin, kun kes\u00e4n ja syksyn 1975 aikana tulivat tietoon ensimm\u00e4iset ep\u00e4ilyt ilmaan p\u00e4\u00e4sev\u00e4n hiivap\u00f6lyn allergisoivista vaikutuksista. Yll\u00e4tt\u00e4v\u00e4ksi hiivap\u00f6lyn aiheuttaman ymp\u00e4rist\u00f6haitan teki se, ett\u00e4 vastaava hiivaprosessi oli ollut k\u00e4yt\u00f6ss\u00e4 Sveitsiss\u00e4 yht\u00e4jaksoisesti 1940-luvulta l\u00e4htien eik\u00e4 haittoja oltu havaittu. Sama prosessi oli sittemmin otettu k\u00e4ytt\u00f6\u00f6n useissa muissakin maissa, eik\u00e4 miss\u00e4\u00e4n ollut ilmennyt allergisia oireita sen enemp\u00e4\u00e4 tehtaan ty\u00f6ntekij\u00f6iden kuin ymp\u00e4rist\u00f6n asukkaidenkaan keskuudessa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Hiivatehtaan ymp\u00e4rist\u00f6haittoja pienennet\u00e4\u00e4n<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ty\u00f6terveyslaitoksen varmistettua vuonna 1976 ensimm\u00e4iset allergiatapaukset mittautti yhti\u00f6 VTT tammikuussa 1977 tehtaan kuivausilman mukana ymp\u00e4rist\u00f6\u00f6n p\u00e4\u00e4sseen hiivap\u00f6lyn m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4n. N\u00e4iss\u00e4 mittauksissa selvisi, ett\u00e4 hiivap\u00f6ly\u00e4 ymp\u00e4rist\u00f6\u00f6n p\u00e4\u00e4si tehtaalta etup\u00e4\u00e4ss\u00e4 kahdesta pisteest\u00e4: kuivaa kuollutta hiivaa kuivausilman mukana p\u00e4\u00e4piipusta ja el\u00e4vi\u00e4 hiivasoluja avoimista fermentoreista. Useiden mittausten ja teknisten selvitysten j\u00e4lkeen asetti \u00c4\u00e4nekosken kaupungin terveyslautakunta L\u00e4\u00e4kint\u00f6hallituksen lausuntoon nojautuen tietyt velvoitteet hiivatehtaan ymp\u00e4rist\u00f6haittojen poistamiseksi. N\u00e4m\u00e4 velvoitteet olivat fermentorien kattaminen, kuivausprosessin parantaminen, rakeistuksen p\u00f6lynpoiston parantaminen, piha-alueen asfaltointi ja velvollisuus hiivap\u00e4\u00e4st\u00f6jen mittaamiseen. Yhti\u00f6 suoritti n\u00e4m\u00e4 toimenpiteet vuoden 1979 huhtikuun loppuun menness\u00e4.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Asiasta tehtiin toukokuussa 1979 eduskuntakysely, mink\u00e4 seurauksena sosiaali- ja terveysministeri tutustui tilanteeseen paikan p\u00e4\u00e4ll\u00e4 kes\u00e4kuussa. Lausunnossaan ministeri sanoi mm.:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">K\u00e4sill\u00e4 oleva ongelma on kokonaan uudentyyppinen jos tilannetta verrataan tavallisiin saasteisiin. Yleens\u00e4h\u00e4n voidaan m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4t\u00e4 jokin raja-arvo, jonka alapuolella saasteesta ei aiheudu ihmiselle terveydellisi\u00e4 haittoja. \u00c4\u00e4nekoskella kysymys on kuitenkin eloper\u00e4isest\u00e4 aineesta. Tiede ei ole viel\u00e4 pystynyt selvitt\u00e4m\u00e4\u00e4n sit\u00e4 enimm\u00e4ispitoisuutta, joka t\u00e4llaisille aineille voidaan sallia ilman terveydellisi\u00e4 riskej\u00e4.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lopullinen ratkaisu hiivap\u00f6lyongelmaan saatiin vuoden 1980 puolella, kun yhti\u00f6 noin 7 milj. markan investoinnilla, josta 5 milj. markkaa oli valtion lainaa, asensi hiivatehtaalle laitteistot, joiden avulla p\u00f6lyp\u00e4\u00e4st\u00f6t saatiin alle 100 grammaan vuorokaudessa aikaisemman jopa 50 kg sijasta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Hiivatehdas pys\u00e4ytettiin 15.1.1984<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sulfiittisellutehtaalta saatavasta koivuj\u00e4teliemest\u00e4 t\u00e4ysin riippuvaisena toimineen hiivatehtaan pys\u00e4ytt\u00e4misp\u00e4\u00e4t\u00f6s tuli vastaan sulfiittikeiton loputtua \u00c4\u00e4nekoskella alkuvuodesta 1984. Hiivatehdas pys\u00e4ytettiinkin noin kymmenen k\u00e4yntivuotensa j\u00e4lkeen 15.1.1984. Tekniikaltaan t\u00e4ysin toimintakuntoisen ja ajanmukaisen tehtaan tuotannon jatkamiseksi tehtiin koeajoja melassipohjaisella raaka-aineella, mutta prosessin uudesta k\u00e4ynnist\u00e4misest\u00e4 jouduttiin kuitenkin luopumaan taloudellisesti kannattamattomana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>L\u00e4hteet<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol
